Edge10 Launch of W194c - Low Cost 16:9 LCD Monitor

The new  W194c will launch in Q4 2010. First shipments are arriving on the 27th Of September. The unit is a 16:9 monitor with an 18.5" display and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. The monitor is wall mountable and comes with a three year on site warranty exchange.

BETT Show is fast approaching

Edge10 Corporation Ltd is exhibiting at the BETT Show held from 14-17 January 2009 at Olympia London.  We are on stand A96 in the Grand Hall so come and see us...

Taiwan LCD panels makers migrate to 26-inch monitor production - Edge10 - W260

Taiwan LCD panel makers are aggressively expanding their LCD monitor product portfolios to the 26-inch widescreen segment with Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) taking the lead and AU Optronics (AUO) and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) to follow suit. According to sources at Taiwan panel makers, CMO commenced 26-inch widescreen LCD monitor production in August with a monthly output of about 2,000 units. The amount is expected to ramp up to about 10,000 units in September. Rival AUO will follow suit and plans to start 26-inch widescreen LCD monitor panel production in October, the sources said. They commented that the relatively late production schedule at AUO is primarily due to the panel maker's tightening capacity. Additionally, sources revealed that CPT will start the production of 26-inch widescreen monitor panels from September at its sixth-generation (6G) lines. Since the monitor panels from the companies all support TN-mode there is a cost difference of about US$20-40 compared with MVA mode monitor panels, the sources said. Such a difference will reflect in the final quotes with TN-mode panels likely to be quoted in the range of US$280-300, versus the same-size MVA-mode's US$300 and above. Most available 26-inch widescreen LCD monitors are being targeted at so-called niche applications such as medical or professional graphics, industry players commented. Although general consumers still have concerns about whether 26-inch is too large for a monitor, the industry players believe that there exists a chance for 26-inch widescreen monitors to be the next mainstream large monitor size, given that consumers are unlike to feel dizzy when using monitors of this size at a one-foot distance.

LCD Monitors - Disruptive Technologies - Small Sizes

AU Optronics (AUO) plans to volume produce 15.4-inch widescreen panels next month, with Dell and Hewlett-Packard (HP) among the makers placing orders for the segment, according to market speculations.

With the orders from the two major PC brands, the monthly capacity of the segment from AUO stands a chance of exceeding 100,000 units initially, sources said.

Amid a trend of migrating to widescreen models for LCD monitors, panel makers have been pushing large-size widescreen panels (22-, 24- and 26-inch ones) as well as smaller models. Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), HannStar Display and LG.Philips LCD are pushing 17-inch widescreen panels, while Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) will launch 15.4- and 15.6-inch widescreen panels, the sources said. In addition, CMO may also launch 16-inch widescreen models should monitor makers be willing to adopt the segment, the sources noted.

Currently, LG.Philips LCD is mainly shipping is 17-inch widescreen panels to Apple while HannStar's 17-inch widescreen panels are shipped to customers, which include Lenovo, with the overall monthly output already reaching 400,000 units, the sources indicated.

Greater Display Width for Greater Productivity - with Edge 10 Graphical Screens
