| The strong demand for monitor panels will keep panel pricing high in August. Panel supply remains tight, and panel makers are quoting another $4-6 price increase in the first half of August. Currently, some monitor brands are under pressure to make up for lost ground in the first half of the year, and they are trying to win back some share by aggressively placing panel orders. Some monitor brands and OEMs are reporting that the demand for some panels with 16:9 is not as strong as in previous months. Demand for wide-format 16:10 panels and square types are relatively strong, however. To keep the demand healthy, some panel makers are considering slowing price increase for certain sizes. The price hike of 17" and 19" square panels are higher due to the limited supply base; thus these sizes have the biggest shortages. Downstream brand owners face margin pressure from rising panel costs, and the issue of margin distribution across the food chain remains critical. |
LCD TV's are good, but I prefer plasma. The picture quality is superior and the unit's seem to last longer. Plus they look cool.
